The academy league season came to an end and, as always, it was a heartfelt time around Carrington as some youngsters said their goodbyes.

It is always a difficult time for people at Manchester United like Nick Cox, who does a wonderful job as Head of Academy, have to select with players to release from the academy.

Most of them all grow and develop together at United, but it is inevitable that their careers with take different paths and there is never a shortage of interest in interest in these young players.

Following the final match of the academy league season this term, Manchester United gifted the departing players a framed shirt to always remember their time at the club.

It’s a classy gesture from United.

Five members of the U16s are amongst those departing this summer, all of whom have already secured moves to new clubs this summer, including Eyob-Abraha to Sheffield United.

Another youngster that will be leaving United’s academy this summer is Freddie Freedman, the son of Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman.
