USA TODAY Sports

This week, the Brooklyn Nets began training camp, and they will play their first preseason game on Monday night against the Los Angeles Lakers in California.

On Friday, the Nets announced that they had signed two new players (h/t Hoops Rumors).

Via Brooklyn Nets PR: "OFFICIAL: The Brooklyn Nets have signed guards Kameron Hankerson and Trey McGowens."

NetsDaily also added more details on the signings.

Via NetsDaily: "Kameron Hankerson and Trey McGowens, signed by the Nets today, are ultimately headed to Long Island, the latest Exhibit 10 deals in Nets sign-and-waive strategy to fill out Long Island's roster. Both played for Long Island last year. Hankerson was a local tryout."

Hankerson initially went undrafted in 2020 after playing four seasons of college basketball for Green Bay.

Last year, he played for the Long Island Nets (G League) and averaged 5.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest in 28 regular season games.

Meanwhile, McGowens went undrafted in 2022 after playing four seasons of college basketball for Nebraska and Pittsburgh.

He also played for the Long Island Nets and averaged 3.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 43.6% from the field in 23 regular season games.

As for the Nets, they are coming off a year where they were the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 45-37 record.

Despite trading superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they made the NBA playoffs but got swept in the first round by Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers.
